Description

The Loan Closet of Howard county is currently looking for a volunteer to serve as a front desk receptionist. The purpose of the Loan Closet of Howard County is to provide a clearinghouse of donated medical equipment for temporary use to all Howard County residents. Many residents in need of medical equipment may not be able to afford these items, or they may only need equipment for a short period of time; others have medical equipment they no longer need. The Loan Closet brings these two communities of people together.

Duties:
- Provide pleasant, friendly greeting to public
- Contact appropriate person to assist customers
- Politely answer phones
- Answer commonly asked questions
- Take messages, if needed
- Photocopy and print forms
- Distribute mail
- Keep reception area tidy and presentable
- Accept donations and returns from public
- Assist donors in completing donation form
- Knowledge of basic computer skills

Qualification:
- Age 18 or older
- Ability to politely and professionally interact with the public
- Ability to multitask
- Telephone skills
- Listening skills
- Customer oriented

Commitment Expected:
- Minimum of a 4-hour weekly shift
- Loan Closet hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Training:
- General orientation by Loan Closet Volunteer Coordinator
- Training on phone system
- Training on directing customer to appropriate person
- Training on answering most frequently asked questions
- Training on donation and other forms used regularly
