Description
The Howard County Ombudsman Program is seeking volunteers who are comfortable working with older adults in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Volunteers conduct routine visits with residents to discuss their care experiences, provide education about their rights, and investigate and resolve complaints. Volunteers must be age 18 or older, have a valid MD Driver's License, and be able to commit at least 4 hours per month to working with long term care residents. Candidates must be available to attend an initial 4 days of training in a classroom setting and complete 8 hours of shadowing training. Volunteers are also required to attend bi-monthly continuing education meetings.
