2021 City Nature Challenge: High Ridge Park
Howard County Rec & Parks - Natural Resources, Environmental & Parks

2021 City Nature Challenge | High Ridge Park | May 2, 2021|
11 am - 12 pm

The City Nature Challenge is a friendly competition and collaboration among cities across the globe to find and document plants and wildlife over a four-day period. Because we are in the Baltimore metropolitan area, Howard County Recreation and Parks will be contributing records to the Baltimore City Challenge. Come help us observe and record the diversity of plants and wildlife in Howard County Parks!

Job Duties:
Document as many species as you can using iNaturalist on your cellphone. No need to be an expert - iNaturalist will offer suggestions based on your photographs, and selections are verified by scientists on the app. This will be a self-guided activity; while there will be Park Rangers on site with a table to get you started and answer your questions, you will be hiking the trails and searching for species on your own or in your family groups. It will help to have the iNaturalist app downloaded on your phone using WiFi before you leave your home.

The event will run rain or shine, so come prepared with boots, long pants, appropriate layers, sunscreen, bug spray, water, and snacks!

Covid precautions will also be in place so please wear your mask and socially distance from others outside your household.

We look forward to having your help!
